General (Used by all races) Shipyards (R1)

NOTE: On all SSDs the shaded boxes on the Drone Racks, Plasma Racks and the ADDs represent the Y175 refit.
NOTE: On some SSDs the fighter/shuttles have shaded boxes, these represent the crippled the status of the fighter/shuttle.
NOTE: On some SSDs the crew check-off boxes have a 'B' or 'D' in them, these represent the crew units that are Boarding Parties or Deck Crews.

(R1D.100) ELECTRONIC WARFARE SUPPORT SHIP (EWS) Used by all the races to provide EW support to newly established colony worlds. Built on military freighter hulls, they were often paired with monitors at important colony worlds.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 0-4u /0-2. Command rating 0. EWP is 3. Cost to build is 8 EP. All the races begin with 2, except the Federation and Klingons which begin with 4, and the Tholians with 1. Each race can build 1 per year. No race can operate more than 6 EWS at one time.

(R1001) LIGHT ASSAULT TRANSPORT (ATL) Shortly after the introduction of the small auxiliary carrier, some ships were converted as assault ships. The fighters were replaced by ground assault shuttles and transport shuttles. 2 battalions of troops were carried on board, and as these were landed, the ship would get more troops from troop transports and land them.

(R1002) MEDIUM PASSENGER LINER (MPL) This ship is a luxury liner, designed to take people on cruises. Not designed for military use, they were operated by the Carnival and Princess cruise lines. These ships were fast, but sluggish, and for the passengers comfort, had an extensive life support system. The large number of shuttles served two purposes. The first was for emergency evacuation, the 2nd, was for the eccentric few that refused to use transporters. During the General War, these ships were used as troop transports, ferrying troops from base to base in military convoys.

(R1003) LARGE PASSENGER LINER (LPL) This ship is a luxury liner, designed to take people on cruises. Not designed for military use, they were operated by the Cunard Lines. Only 6 ships of this type were built (the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, United States, Normandie, Leviathan, and one other). These ships were fast, but sluggish, and for the passengers comfort, had an extensive life support system. The large number of shuttles served two purposes. The first was for emergency evacuation, the 2nd, was for the eccentric few that refused to use transporters. During the General War, these ships were used as troop transports, ferrying troops from base to base. Unlike its smaller brother, this ship always operated alone and at high speed. Of the 6 ships, 4 were destroyed due to accidents, one of them in a collision with an asteroid in deep space.

(R1M.701) JUMBO FREE TRADER (JFT) A number of companies who owned and operated Free Traders wished to improve the performance of their ships. This resulted in the design of the Jumbo Trader. These ships were both capable of hauling larger loads and moving faster due to the use of military grade engines. The addition of a HTS "style" shuttle gave more flexibility for short haul loads. A second option mount was added providing a bit more protection.

(R1M.702) ARMED JUMBO FREE TRADER (AJT) During the opening stages of the General War, raids by Orion Pirates increased on civilian shipping. Unable to secure "fleet" escort many corporations responded by converting some of their Jumbo Traders to a more heavily armed variant. These Armed Jumbo Traders (which were almost the equivalent of civilian Q-ships) began appearing in late Y169.

(R1M.703) JUMBO FREE TRADER AD-HOC CARRIER (TAV) The Shenyang Corporation originally had a couple of their Jumbo Free Traders modified to this design as a way to demonstrate their new F-7 Fighter Shuttle. The ship provoked interest by a number of companies who operated in "risky" areas. Shenyang seeing the opportunity to increase profits began offering to convert Jumbo Free Traders as part of a overall package deal for F-7s.

(R1005) JUMBO FREE TRADER EXPLORER (JTE) The most successful companies had some of their Jumbo Free Traders either built or converted to this design after Y162. The Special Sensors were used to located mineral deposits and potential trading partners at greater distances. There was some talk of the Military using these as auxiliary scouts, but the lack of power on this ship for EW support, resulted in the proposal being dropped.

(R1M.710) FREE TRADER EXPLORER (FTE) Some of the more successful companies had their Free Traders either built or converted to this design. The Special Sensor were used to located mineral deposits and potential trading partners at greater distances.

(R1D.801) SECURITY SKIFF (SSK) Although this design was used primarily by the Gorns, Hydrans, Lyrans and Romulans examples of it have also been seen in service by the Federation, the Klingons (ISF) as well as the Kzintis.

(R1P.9xx) NEW BASE AUGMENTATION MODULES A wide variety of new middle to late war Class A Base Augmentation Modules. Designed to provide a fast means of adding supplementary firepower to various orbital facilities. All the warring races used these modules (in some form or other). Included are Ph-1, Ph-2, Photon, Disruptor, Plasma-D, Plasma-F, Fusion, Hellbore, Web Caster, PPD, Drone, EW support, and heavy fighter modules. Limited to two per Starbase, and one to Battle and Base Stations, Mobile Bases. They cannot be placed on System Activity Maintenance Stations, Commercial Platforms, or Fleet Repair Docks. These small modules have no shielding and cannot be placed on planetary surfaces. None of these modules may be used by the Orion's. DF&E factors are shown on the SSDs.

(JP8.0) SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH SHUTTLES (SRS) These shuttles were the precursors of the MRS shuttles. Developed by most races (the Romulans being an exception) in Y140, they are capable of some, but not all the missions of the MRS. There is only one type of SRS. They carry 1 Ph-3 (360), and can carry no other weapons or combat pods. In addition to their normal crew of two, they can carry one of the following options as standard equipment: 1 crew or boarding party; 15 spaces of cargo, or a probe. The probe cannot be armed as a weapon under any circumstances. They count as two labs for scientific research. They cannot be used as suicide, wild weasels, scatter or shatter packs. They cannot assume control or control seeking weapons of any type.
They have a very limited Electronic Warfare capability. They can perform all the EW support as outlined in (J8.4) Captains Module J except (J4.83) escorting fighters. They can only add 1 ECM and 1 either ECM or ECCM to its home ship. They are subject to the restrictions of (J1.343) during the period immediately after launch. They have a speed of 6 and a damage factor of seven. They can use (WBP) Warp booster packs. They cost 7 BPV. Unless specified above they operate as Administrative Shuttles. (J2.0).

(R1P.975) DEEP SPACE SENSOR ARRAY (DSSA) These deep space stations were originally deployed by most races around Y140. The Romulans being an exception, who did not deploy one until Y162, after they got warp power from the Klingons. They were intended as scientific outposts. During the war they were used as "spy stations." Most were destroyed as they had little or no defense. They cannot use Class "A" Modules. Most were deployed with two Admin, two SRS, and two HTS shuttles. They can operate MRS shuttles, (although no record of such an occurrence exists).
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this unit to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 1-6u /0-3. Command rating 4. EWP is 3. Cost to build is 10 EP. Can be built, stored, transported, and erected like a Mobile Base.

(R1004) ASSAULT TRANSPORT (AT) Shortly after the introduction of the large auxiliary carrier, some ships were converted as assault ships. The fighters were replaced by ground assault shuttles and transport shuttles. 4 battalions of troops were carried on board, and as these were landed, the ship would get more troops from troop transports and land them.
