Training Center Project for Panama and JIBACAM – Project WM06-1287

All of this development has made it possible and necessary to move forward with the goal of building a missions training center. Panama has been chosen for the location of the training center because of its central location to the area and several other factors. The church in Panama has agreed to host the center and sees this project as a vital part of its own growth and development as a member of the Ibero-American Fellowship. The training center would provide them with facilities for training pastors and leaders for the churches in Panama.

The Evangelical Wesleyan Church of Panama and the missions board of Latin America and the Caribbean (JIBACAM) have joined together to build a training center for pastors and missionaries. In 1996 a group of leaders from Latin America gathered in Puerto Rico for the first conference on missions for the churches of the area. Out of this conference was born a vision for the training and sending of missionaries from the Wesleyan Churches of Latin America to unreached tribes and peoples in Latin America and the world. Part of this goal included building a training center for missions. To raise the level of awareness of missions in the area, programs for teaching missions in the local church, developing missions committees and strategies were begun. Seminars on missions and growth in missions have been prepared and presented throughout the region.

Global Partners has agreed to continue in its partnership with the churches of Latin American and its missions board, JIBACAM, to help bring this vision, of building a training center to prepare those called into missions from Latin America, to completion. Already JIBACAM is involved in missions work in Equatorial Guinea, Mali (countries in Africa) and Spain as well as within Latin America. The need to train people for these mission works and others is growing.

You can be a part of this incredible partnership with the churches of Latin America and Global Partners in the following areas:

Pray

    1. Land – We are currently searching for the right place to build the school. Pray for wisdom that God will lead us to a place that will provide space to build and access to public transportation.
    2. Finances – Pray that God will touch the hearts of people to give. The first phase of the project is $206,600 and involves the purchase of land and construction of various buildings in the training center.
    3. Students – Pray that God will begin to prepare individuals and couples to respond to the call of God.
    4. Structures – Pray for the structures that need to be developed to receive applications of those being called and mentoring them in their preparation for following God's call.
    5. Finances – Pray that God will motivate churches and individuals throughout the area to financially support the students, God raises up, in their preparation.

Give

    1. Phase one – You can give towards the purchase of the land and the construction of the first buildings. Donations should be sent to Global Partners for the following project – International Training Center – WM06-1287
    2. Training – If you are interested in helping to underwrite the costs of training you can send funds to the Wesleyan Center for Training Fund – WM06-1040. These funds are used to cover the costs of travel to conduct seminars in different countries and Bible colleges, the development of resources for the churches, and to provide scholarships for prospective students of the training center.

Go –

God has opened an incredible door of opportunity to partner together to train and send missionaries from Latin America to the world. They will be able to go and serve in countries where others cannot go or are not welcome. This partnership has already resulted in many doors being opened and new churches begun. Since the first meeting in Puerto Rico, churches have been started in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, French Guiana, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Doors are also opening for new work in Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia. This has all occurred in Central and South America. Besides this has Jibacam’s involvement in Equatorial Guinea, Mali and Spain.

  • Construction Teams – When we have purchased the land there will be a need for teams to help in the construction of the training center and its facilities.
  • Staff – There may be a need for support staff on a short term basis when the school begins its program of training; i.e. maintenance, office, teachers. Some of these needs would be for 3-4 months. Others for 1-2 years.
  • -

Many more doors are opening and it is time to train the people and prepare them, and the churches, to go through those doors.

Join with us in bringing the vision of training and sending missionaries from Latin America to the world.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Perry J. Hubbard

    Director of Training – JIBACAM
