"There is something undifferentiated and yet complete, which existed before heaven and earth. Soundless and formless, it depends on nothing and does not change. It operates everywhere and is free from danger. It may be considered the mother of the universe. I do not know its name; I call it Tao". (chap 25, 152).

EXCERPT FROM THE TOA TE CHING:

"All things in the world come from being. And being comes from nonbeing". (chan, 160).

Peace will come into me life only when I align myself with Jesus.

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

The Tao Te Ching says:

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Cor. 9:24-27

18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18

1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 16 Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. 19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall. 22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. Romans 14:1-22

12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13

1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:1-2,6

22 "Haven faith in God," Jesus answered. 23 "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:22-24

12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. Matthew 11:12

NOTE: The Bible says that there is a time to let go by faith and…a time to hold on by faith:

1 There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under heaven:

ECC 3:2 a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

ECC 3:3 a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

ECC 3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

ECC 3:5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

ECC 3:6 a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

ECC 3:7 a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

THE BIBLE SAYS WE NEED TO PRAY FOR WISDOM IN KNOWING WHEN TO LET GO BY FAITH OR WHEN TO HOLD ON BY FAITH:

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. 9 The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. 10 But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business. 12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:5-12

There is a time to wu–wei and a time to forcefully advance the kingdom of God by faith.

ILLUSTRATION: RELOCATION – The past 2 and a half years we have been mobile, and have lightly pursued negations with land, but not forcefully. I felt that God wanted us to let go for a season and trust him. To let him refine his church and makes us holy and faithful.

I sense that God wants us to sit before him as a church family once of month and pray for wisdom, for his direction for "New Heights". Does he want us to stay at the school? Does he want us to go back to our church building and expand it to make room for all our nursery? Does he have another church building or business building that we can renovate into a church building? This is a time to sit before the Lord and ask for his will, and not to impose our own. As we do that I believe God is going to move us on to the next stage – the forceful stage and taking what he wants to give us by faith, no matter what option he determines for us.

If we remain selfish and immature, then there will be people who will be upset no matter what option God has for us. But is we come together as a church family in unity asking God to reveal his will, then all parties will be content with what God chooses for New Heights whether we stay mobile, go back to our old building, or get into a different church building with more space.

 

:3 Yet you know me, O LORD; you see me and test my thoughts about you. Drag them off like sheep to be butchered! Set them apart for the day of slaughter! Jeremiah 12:3

3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3

The Tao is beyond moral distinctions. The ying/yang duality that flows from one the Tao represents the balance and the interaction between good and evil. Good and evil are coequal AND MUTUALLY DEPENDENT.

17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. Jeremiah 32:17

THE SOLUTION in Taoism is: Reliance on our ability to become aware of the way in which the Tao operates in the world and to align ourselves with it. Transformation comes from our purposeful inactivity (wu-wei) and to "go with the flow" of the Tao.

For CHRISTIANITY it is: Reliance on what God has accomplished on our behalf through Jesus Christ. Transformation comes as we repent of our sins (selfishness), trust in the forgiveness and reconciling work of Jesus Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to give us new life.

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,n that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9

16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:16-18

THE AFTERLIFE for Taoism: The person’s individual consciousness ceases to exist, but his/her life force is "recycled". Through remembrance, the family keeps them "immortal".

HELPIING THE TAOIST UNDERSTAND CHRISTIANITY:

"That things with age decline in strength you may well say, suits the Way; And not to suit the Way is early death.

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.n For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,n 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 7:14-8:2

Whosoever asks will receive; whosoever has sinned will be forgiven"? chap 62

"Therefore the sage says: He who suffers disgrace for his country is called the lord of the land. He who takes upon himself the county’s misfortunes becomes the king of the empire. Straight words seem to be their opposite. (Chap 78; chan 175)

1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppressionn and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken.n 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makesn his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. 11 After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of lifen and be satisfiedn; by his knowledgen my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,n and he will divide the spoils with the strong,n because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. ISAIAH 53:1-12

:38 "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

50 Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for."n

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 52 "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

55 At that time Jesus said to the crowd, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. 56 But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples deserted him and fled. Matthew 26:50-56

57 Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. Mathew 26:57

28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. Matthew 27:28-30

34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."n And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:34

32 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. Acts 8:32

28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

15 The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water." John 4:15

:37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, asn the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." John 7:37-38

11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:11
