ASYLUM is about a landscape architect raised in wealth in a mansion surrounded by Siberian elm mazes. As an architect, Kate specializes in mazes because she so loved the one on her grandfather's property. She is kidnapped with the caveat that she get a dhampir into her grandfather's estate--and through the maze--which was sold to a private psychiatric clinic. The hospital now is a "front." Vampires are locked in padded rooms by day and freed at night to do their mayhem.
