In Empath, Maggie is a gentle-natured veterinarian until she is seduced by Nicolas, and embittered warrior werewolf who must mate with her and turn her into a killer to destroy the shapeshifters stalking his pack. Maggie, who thinks she's human, is an empath who heals injuries and disease. Nicolas must force Maggie to acknowledge her true nature, and make her break her vow of non-violence to save their pack.

Empath is a book close to my heart. Though I've published Egyptian historicals with Dorchester and erotic paranormals with Ellora's Cave, Empath is the first book that evolved from a personal experience. In 2006, my beloved Shih Tzu, Tia, was diagnosed with liver cancer and given less than a year to live. After the vet told us, I began writing about a veterinarian who desperately tries to find a cure for her dying dog. Eventually the book evolved into Empath. Sadly, Tia died two weeks before Christmas, shortly after my agent told me that we'd sold Empath to Nocturne. I will always miss Tia, but she will live on forever in the book, and in all the loyalty and love she showered on our family over the past eleven years.
