  • I purchased the car in September of 1969 for $600 from Hansords Pontiac Company to replace my 55 Pontiac which had a clutch going out on it, it was kinda slow also. I bought it as is and the motor had a knock so I paid $200 for a 421 motor out of a Grand Prix to put in it. When I bought the car it had a new paint job on it with a cheap spray-on black top, It was not until a couple of years ago I realised that it should have a white top. I drove it to school for a few years and then to work. It was plenty fast with a 421. One day I went out to Minnesota Dragways and watched the race's and decided this looks like fun.

It was not to long after that the car was sporting a hood scoop and a Tunnel Ram. I bought a 69 Judge as a driver and tow car so I could use the 64 for racing. I raced it for many years and blew up more than my share of parts. On one trip to Rockford ILL raceway in the late 70 equipped with a 455 HO intake, Thermoquad Carb 488 Gears RamAir4 heads on 455 running a $29.95 JC Whittey cam I ran 11:50 at 119 MPH not to bad I should have stopped there.

Later on with 13" Slicks, Roller Cams, Clutch Turbo, I was able to run 11:22 at 124 MPH However racing was getting too expensive and spending to much time and it was not fun any more. Needless to say the car was far from stock or streetable. and so it has taken many years to put it back to useable condition. Currently I put together a 455 HO for a motor with a 850 Thermo Quad. I am having trouble keeping the car cool even with a new HD Radiator.
