These pictures have been taken at various Lag stevner. They give the viewer a small glimpse of the fun and tradition found at these meetings. Every other year an honored member is chosen to ware the Bridal Bunad and the full procession of Spelemann (Violin players), Bride & Groom, and all members dressed in festive attire march through the country side and into the hall where they are presented to the members at hand. The program continues with music and dance, topped off in the evening with a banquet.

A view of the Nordfjord bunad.  A closer view of the same bunad.  Caught you LuAnn!
This wonderful hair piece really belongs with the bunad from the Telemark area. She should have a black cap if married, or a black cap with bits of green or purple if not.
The Bryllupsmarsj (bridal march) at Sunberg, 1994.  The bridal couple, Bernice & Oswald, at the 1994 stevne in Sunberg, MN.  The bridal couple, Sharon & Gene, at the 1996 stevne in Willmar, MN.
The bridal crown and bunad were presented to the Lag in 1933 by the Firda Youth Society of Nordfjord Norway. The crown was created by a goldsmith in Bergan and with all the adornments weighs about two pounds. Attached to the back of the crown is a row of finely embroidered ribbons each ending with the traditional gold ornament. An occasional troll has been known to invade Lag stevner, getting into mischief, as most trolls do. (They are usually difficult to capture on film.)
