Margaret STILL, b 1832 Ohio, d Carroll Co. IL Feb. 4, 1913, buried Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, Whiteside Co. m 1854 Abram/Abraham JOHNSON in Sterling, Whiteside Co, IL. (Abram d 1867) Her obituary names her three surviving children (Curtis-m Carrie BARTHOLOMEW; Mary Ann [Molly]-m Peter K. SMITH; and Milford-m Blanche MASON), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother- David STILL of Santa Monica, CA, a sister- Mrs. Mary LIBBY of Kansas City, MO, and a niece- Mrs. Frank (Olley Bella COCHRAN) KRAMER, daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth (STILL) COCHRAN. Alley; and George David b 1891, d 1934, married Marie Louise Anderson.

She was born Oct 1873 in PA and died in 1918 in Dickson Co TN. This is my great grandfather and I can’t seem to locate anything on him or his lineage.

STILL, Virgil STILL (still living in FL), and Vera Mae STILL, who m Henry Powell MOORE. Need info about "Bob" STILL.

My great (x2)-grandmother was Mary Margaretta STILL (1838 MO - 1920 CA) who married Rev Thomas Madden ADAMS originally from Ontario, Canada. Mary Margaretta STILL was the daughter of Rev Dr Abraham or Abram STILL (1796 NC - 1867 KS), Methodist minister to the Shawnee Indians, abolitionist and physician. He was the son of Boaz STILL (1765 VA - 1840 TN) & Mary LYDA (1770 VA - 1840 TN). Abram's wife was Martha Poage MOORE (1800 VA - 1888 KS). Abram and Martha STILL were also parents of Dr Andrew Taylor STILL (1828 VA - 1917 MO), founder of osteopathic medicine. I have a copy of Mary Margaretta STILL'S autobiography, as well as other info on the STILL family.

Noah died on 24 Jan 1915 in Knowles OK and was buried in Farmington, Republic Co KS. Would like info on this family.

Jesse was also father of: Elizabeth "Betsy" STILL, m William Daniel ASBELL 4 Dec 1828, Madison Co KY ; Francis STILL m Hannah ASBELL 21 Nov 1829, Madison Co KY. Also, John STILL m Sally LAMB 12 June 1820 in Madison Co KY. (I don't know whether or not John was a brother, cousin, uncle, or father to Jesse.) It has been rumored Jesse's wife (?) was of Cherokee blood. Would like to know her name, and whether or not she was part Cherokee. Jesse STILL, his wife and children, are shown in the 1820 and 1830 Madison Co KY census. It is believed they came to KY from NC early 1800s. Any info would be appreciated.

24. Linda DICKSON I am researching Matilda STELLE (full blooded Indian) b 1843. In 1860 census, Hamilton Co. IL, there is a Matilda, age 17, listed as a domestic worker working for Elizabeth and Thompson STELLE. What I am wondering is if she took the name STELLE when working for them? Her parents are listed as Elizabeth LAWYER and Thompson STELLE. I show nine kids besides Matilda. I have a lot of information on everyone except Matilda. Matilda married William Madison CLARK in Hamilton County, Illinois. They married before 1866, and I show her dying ca 1876 in Franklin County, Illinois. They had 3 children Laura Belle, Thomas and Rosetta. Rosetta is my great grandmother and she married William Archibald INGRAM. They also had 10 children, one of them being my grandmother.

26. Eleanor ESSLINGER, Chattanooga, TN(Panlaqui2@aol.com) I am descended from the Rev. Elijah STILL and Lethie (LUSK) STILL line of Bradley Co., TN. His father, Boaz STILL, was in White Co. TN, and I believe the son of Samuel STILL I or II. I just recently discovered the Boaz Family line. If anyone has information about Samuel STILL or proof that a Samuel STILL was Boaz STILL's father, please let me know.

27. Karla ESSMILLER, 893 SW 30 RD, Pawnee Rock, KS 67567 I am looking for more information on the ancestors of Joseph STILL b. Aug 22, 1834 in Annville, PA. He married Amelia TROXEL around 1861. He served in the infantry in the Civil War, later divorced Amelia, and died at the Old Soldiers Home in Dayton, OH. He is buried in the National Cemetery in Dayton. I have not, as yet, found out anything about his parents or family.

28. Emery FRANCIS, 1204 Roberta Ann Dr., Sherwood, AR 72120. I am tracing the family of Revolutionary War soldier John STELL, b abt 1744 in York, England, m Susannah MALONE b abt 1744. They were married in Amelia Co. VA abt 1764. The STELL line goes from VA through SC, Gwinnett Co. GA, and my branch to Conway Co AR. The first STELL in Arkansas arrived in 1835. Judge Robert STELL (my ggggfather) was one of several brothers to migrate to AR. I have extensive data on the family, but am always searching for more!

Barbara GARREN I have been trying to located my grandparents: Thomas Benjamin STILL b. 1870? d. 1950?.....Mattie Mae DRAKE STILL b. late 1800's d. 1932...children Clyde, Henry, Willie, Beulah, and Mary Jane. They were from the Georgia/Carolina area. Everyone has passed and I don't have anyone to ask about our history. If anyone can give my a helping hand, I would really appreciate it.

He had a brother, Joseph STILL, who lived in Marshall Co, MS prior to the Civil War. After the Civil War, both brothers ended up residing in Rusk Co, TX. Nathan's parents might have been Joseph and Elizabeth STILL.

33. Dorothy HOBER, PO Box 853, Creswell, OR 97426 ( DdHober@aol.com) I am looking for the parents and siblings of Sally (aka Sarah) STILLS m first __?__TURNER, second Samuel A. BROWN, third Newton REEVES. With Samuel BROWN she had 1 son, Thomas Wilson BROWN, my grandfather. Third marriage she had 8 children: Sylvia, Tillman, John (died in WWI, and is buried in Rudy AR), Alice, Ollie (male), Nancy, Joseph, and Francis (male). We believe her father was Josiah STILLS of Searcy County, AR, and her mother's name was Milly. We found Sally and Newton in the 1900 census in Newton County AR with all their kids.

34. Paul HONEY STILL was my mothers maiden name. My branch of the family have lived in and around London since the mid 18th Century. I only know of one however who left the UK and went to the U.S. and that was ca1800. 38. Walter KLOSS, 7979 N. Ira Martin Avenue, Crystal River, FL 34428. Peter STILL was born in Rhinebeck, NY about 1798. We believe his father was Isaac STILL. Both of these STILLs are recorded on US census records in the early 1800's. Peter had 9 children. James is my wife's relative and had 9 children with 2 wives. His son William Alonso, born in 1850, settled in north eastern PA and had 7 children. George, born in 1889, is my wife's father. Most of William Alonso's and James' children settled in Luzerne County, PA. I haven't discovered much about Peter's family, with the exception of James. However Mary and Margaret married into the large Schultz family and settled in Rhinebeck, NY Dutchess County. Peter also had a son Isaac, but I have no information about him.

40. Bethany Anderson LEE (E-mail: bethanytlee@bellsouth.net )I am a descendent of James Edwin STILL born in 1823 Warren County, KY. I have odd pieces of STILL history that I am running around in circles trying to put together. First, I cannot find the parents of James Edwin STILL. All I know is that from the 1880 census that his parents are listed as being born in VA. Secondly, I found in my grandma’s home, Alethe STILL ANDERSON of Humboldt County, CA a land deed that is to Claiborn STILL for land in MO for his service in the War of 1812. Claiborn moved from VA to Warren County, KY (1820 Census). Also has listed in that census is William STILL. I have records that they along with Creed Still all served honorably in the War of 1812 in the 5^th Regiment of Capt. William Flood’s Company in the Virginia Militia. William seems to have been a ranking officer with Creed. But in a war record I found it talks about William taking the place of Creed for service. William was also a prisoner of war it looks like. A William STILL owned land in Buckingham County , VA. Creed appears in the 1830 Census with only Claiborn. I do not know how Claiborn fits into the picture here. I have in a will record from a Thomas Appling of Ahmherst County VA in 1835 that he left property to “my daughter Elizabeth APPLING wife of Claiborn STILL. Amherst Co in next to Buckingham County . This story is fascinating to me. I have more pieces but I can’t put it all together. I cannot find direct evidence of a link up that James E. STILL is the son of Claiborn, William, or Creed.

They lived in Atchison Kansas where my gGrandmother Elda STILL was born. She married John OLDHAM. Their daughter, my grandmother Lydia OLDHAM, married Wesley Sidney CONNOR. Their daughter Dorothy CONNOR married my father Jack Hargis LINDER.

I'm trying to connect two lines of the STILLS - Andrew Taylor STILL, father of osteopathy and my relative, Kentucky author James Alexander STILL, Jr. I got a lot of information from A.T. STILL University on Andrew Taylor's family, but still see no connection to my line. This is what I have on my STILL line: Abner C. STILL, born 1810, m. Loney Ann QUATTLEBAUM, b. 1813. Their sons James G. STILL, born 11/24/1831 in SC, m. Sarah J. SUTTON, b. 1839 and William Watson STILL, b. 1839, m. Annie McCLENDON. Their son James Alexander STILL, Sr. b. 10/29/1872, m. Barcelona LINDSEY, b. 1875; died 10/2/1957 in Chambers County, AL. They had 5 girls, then James Alexander STILL, Jr. (1906 AL - 2001 in KY), then 3 more boys. I wonder if the first Samuel (b. England/ d. in NC 1782) could have been a brother to John Still (1741-1797) who married Jane and became the father of James Jolly/Jolly James?

Rita Whitlock SOMERS (somertime@earthlink.net ) My STILL family starts with Henry STILL b. 1852 in New York and married an Edna BEILBY also b. in New York in 1852 according to the 1880 Census of Michigan, Tuscola Co. Fairgrove Census. Henry and Edna had: Fredrick b. about 1872, Frank (or Francis) 5 years old on the census, than Alfred E. and Albert b. in Nov. of 1877. They were twins and 2 years old on the census. Harry born about 1890. I am not sure if Henry died or they got divorced because than Edna married a Jay D. SOMERS in Wayne Co. Detroit MI and we think Jay D. adopted the boys because they all carry the name SOMERS.

Phone (740) 585-2246.( jstille@frognet.net) My research of 15 years takes my family line to Ebenezer STILL/STILLE. he came to Marietta, Washington Co., OH from Maine around 1792. His son Samuel H. STILLE said in the 1870 Census that his father was born in France. In France they pronounced the name Still-lay. 71. Khiki STILLS My great grand father, known as "Old Pap" was Charles Fay STILLS. He hated his middle name, though a common Irish name (mostly a surname though) and he did not give my Pap (grand father) Paul STILLS a middle name. Pap has said the name comes from home made liquor stills, I just don't know. it's not a common name, I do know that. The 3 STILLS I have found to still be in Ireland are all James's. In case someone is wondering what happened to them, in 1864 they and all of Susan's family joined a wagon train headed for CA. They reached OR in the fall of 1864 and resided a year before moving on to Humboldt Co CA. They were considered original pioneers of Humboldt Co, and there is much info written about them as well as photos.
