Over the past several years, many questions have come over the Scouts-L youth programs discussion listing as well as in other electronic forums about the process of "making an Eagle". This second summary of all of the messages is intended to assist you, your unit, district and local Council, to develop means in which the processes -- getting Scouts to Life, getting them movitated enough to go toward Eagle, the merit badges neccessary, the leadership and service project which is required, and finally, the Board of Review and the transmittal of the application to the National Office through the local Council --all will be easier to understand and accomphish. We have had a lot of very positive comments about this collection, and as you will see, it has been expanded to cover also areas in planning and conducting an Eagle Court of Honor, resources that you may use to further recognize your Scout, and all of the articles have been condensed where possible so that each file is no larger than 175,000 characters in lenght. This will enable you to easily import each into your favorite word processing program or to print them without manually "breaking them into parts". My personal thanks goes again to all of the Scouters and Scouts that have posted messages, some very personal and some very combative at times, to aid in your personal decisions and method. The current BSA requirements for Eagle are also posted as well as questions and answers related to the wearing of the Eagle Badge and square knot by youth and adult members. Again, my thanks to the BSA's Eagle Scout Service, the National Program Group and the Boy Scout Program Division, and to the Supply Division, National Office BSA, for their assistance in insuring that the most accurate information goes to the field. Your BEST source of information can be found in THREE BSA publications. I advise you to obtain a copy of each and keep both on hand as you go through the process of "making an Eagle". The first is the current Boy Scout Requirements Book, which is available most anyplace a Boy Scout Handbook is located. This booklet, updated every two years, contains all of the official requirements for all of the BSA's Boy Scout advancements and steps to those advancements. The other book, is a pamphlet called "Advancement Guidelines: Council and District Functions", and is available from your local Council office, by direct mail from the BSA's Supply Division, and from Scout Shops {tm} nationwide. This booklet is one of the main "source documents" used in many of the discussions in this series. The other booklet is the booklet called "From Life to Eagle", which ALL local Councils have in their offices. Please read this booklet throughly, because many of the issues we address here were solved when this booklet was published three years later. This booklet is REQUIRED to be completed as part of the process of completing the Eagle Scout Service Project. This booklet is NOT an official publication of the Boy Scouts of America and is NOT intended to serve as a substitution for existing BSA publications. The purpose rather is to enhance and amplify current BSA policies and procedures as they relate to Boy Scout Advancement in general and the Eagle Scout Badge in art"pp ' 4 A N [ h u + 8 E R _ l y " / < I V c p } T % &>zBFZn~*nf j`^_5P$@0=490=RHH[` W66ubY0@&(*.,e(Pa<> ?? @"pp"pp"pp[` W6u)Y"p246:8e(Pa@B ? @"pp"pp"pp( [Ph'(4b A N['hX4 uA ;I$N,[ '$4$zLAzLN$@:[@:hCBu;@P@Ђ9@? 0&*@ 0&* @% b V2_` Wll?Y# p$&(,*m(Pa.0I p p"pp" "P3?""pp"pp#4$6 H6A,H/x6hR6uZH]}H}6HW6H6H6+HEB6RJHMl}6yH6H6H6H<6DHG/r6<zH}V6cH}6H6 H96AHDk6sHvO6&H@6MHsg6tHsH 6%?0H3e6Hh;H6*|H7t6@s@r@cH@C@U@v@>i@b@j@b|@IPXPL@B]@AP x k ^ Q D ' [ N 8 _ " I p 3 Z h////////////////////////Organization//////////////////////////// This "booklet" is divided among several individual files which could be used on their own, or as part of a greater collection of articles which address specific or general issues.
