THE MEETING WILL BE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, AT RIVERWIND!!!

PRESIDENT'S CHATTER

Please use a restraint.  Being careful and aware is the name of the game.  Use Common Sense.  DON'T ASSUME.  We will be talking about this in the December meeting.

SAFETY NOTES

With the flying season coming to an end now is a good time to go over all your airplanes to make sure everything is sound.  Check for broken or missing parts.  Sometimes by just flexing the fuselage, the wing and the tail feathers by hand you can tell if a glue joint has come loose or a part has cracked.

Go over all the nuts and screws to make sure they are tight, and if not, consider using some removable lock tight on them.

Cycle your batteries during the winter to keep them strong and don't forget to check the receiver leads that they have not worked themselves out.

It can be tempting to try to get in one last flight of the year with an airplane that has a (small problem) but remember its always easier to fix a small problem than to replace the whole thing.  So far this year I am not aware of any serious injuries, which is a very good thing.

Keep flying safely                            Kevin Carlson

Well guys and a few gals, looks like the flying season is just about done for this year.  Building season has started.  I hope to get more of that done than last year.

I am in the middle of two jobs right now, for the next couple of weeks.  I will then have a normal job during the normal day.  So I will be able to be at the meetings.

3 SAFETY ISSUES

     1.  ALL flying is to be done EAST of the west side of the runway.  I am talking about the grass area between the runway and Pilot Stations.  There should be NO HAND LAUNCHING or LANDINGS in this area, GAS or ELECTRIC.

     2.  There is a rule that you must bring a fire extinguisher when flying a gas plane.  Some of you think that it is OK to leave it in the car.  The fire extinguisher should be near the plane when starting.  Please think about this before we have to make it a rule.  Please use Common Sense.

     3.  I have noticed that people are not using a restraint when arming an electric airplane.  We all have heard of the horror stories of planes being "Plugged In" and the motor winding up to full RPM.  The same reasons that a nitro plane has to be restrained can also apply for the electric planes.  The motor could be reversed or the wrong model could be selected in the transmitter.  The props for electric airplanes are so sharp.  Please Please
