These were taken on a mini-trip we took to Vermont. Decided to stop
and take a look at Niagara Falls on the way home. There was a lot of talk
about real bad weather, so we pushed the trip a bit more than we would have
had to, but everything worked out well. At Niagara Falls, we parked on the American side and after checking it all out, walked to Canada to see the falls from there. It was a chilly day and a pretty good walk...probably 45 minutes or so to get to Horseshoe Falls. Very nice walk, however. One interesting point about seeing the falls this time of year...ice! Especially on the Canada side. There was so much moisture in the air from the falls crashing down that we were literally soaked within a few minutes. As you can see by the pictures, most objects had a rather large coating of ice...in some cases over a foot thick! Really interesting.
If you look carefully, you will see the drooling alien that was watching us...luckily, it was too pre-occupied to attack. We snook away anywho.
Kathi read that the falls on the American side were about 180 feet tall, and the area where the water is is about 180 feet deep. That certainly gives it all a new and different perspective. One picture shows the huge bank of spotlights that are used to light up the falls at night. Either that, or Canada has one heck of a security system. (I made sure I didn't jiggle any doors).
