2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Which of course means Turbo Diesel Injection. Yup. Diesel.

Surprising little car. Pretty good performance, great handling, better than great economy. Bought the car used a few years ago and have put over 60,000 miles on it. Very much enjoy the car. At the time I bought this, I was looking for something that had enough room to haul a few folks and/or enough room to actually carry stuff around. I was also looking for something that gave me good fuel economy since prices were rising and a best guess was that we weren't going to see cheap gas again.

So, I did some research. And the more I read, the more I liked. It also appeared that these were not easy to find. Seems that other folks were finding out about these as well. Went to the local VW dealer and asked a few questions. A lot of questions, actually. And as it turned out, they had one available. So I took it out. Liked it. Lots. But... one of the things my research turned up was that there were a few things that were desirable in these cars. One...heated seats. Seems that TDI's are so efficient they don't heat up real well real quickly in the winter. And here in Minnesota, that would be an important factor. Secondly, leather was better than the cloth. Many reasons. There were some other reasons as well, but the bottom line was I wanted a TDI, but not necessarily that one. I decided to do some fast searching and if nothing else presented itself, the one I had driven would work. I got lucky and found one at a different (non-VW) dealer. I bought it and have had no regrets at all.
